Samedam 2022
Carmel HSS Chalked Nallapadam members celebrated The International Day of Older People on October 1 2022. It was a great opportunity for the students to celebrate the lives of senior citizens. Chalked Municipality Chairman Mr. Ebby George inaugurated the programme and Ward councilor Mrs. Bindu Sasikumar presided over the meeting. Carmel HSS Principal Rev. Fr. Jose Thanickal felicitated on the occasion along with Advocate Jose C Kallingal and Mr. James Kachirakkal. Around 50 senior Citizens were honoured with memento. A variety of entertainment programmes were also arranger to entertain the elderly.


Nallapadam: Plastic Free Zone Project.
Nallapadam members cleaned the Chalakudy KSRTC Bus Station as a part of their ‘Plastic Free Zone Project’. Chalakudy  MLA Mr. Saneesh Kumar inaugurated the programme. Ward Councillor Mrs. Nitha Paul felicitated and Principal Rev. Fr. Jose Thanickal addressed the gathering. The students collected all the plastic items from the station. This drive was initiated to create awareness of cleanliness among the commuters on the need to keep the bus station and its environment neat and tidy.


Student’s Retreat
A retreat for students from class 5 to 12 was organized under the leadership of Fr. Davis Pattath CMI on 4th and 5th of October 2022. All the student partook in the annual retreat which lead to their personal an spiritual growth.


A Visit To Sevanagiri Sevanalaya: NSS
NSS volunteers visited Sevanagiri Sevanalaya on 9th of October. They also contributed the needful things to the inmates.

MLA Award
Carmel HSS Principal  Rev. Fr. Jose Thanickal was awarded MLA Award by the District Collector on 16th October 2021 for the 100% result in 2021 SSLC and HSE Examination.  Students of Carmel have brought glory to the School with their stunning achievement under the guidance of Rev. Fr. Jose Thanickal. SSLC batch came out with overwhelming victory. All the students passed with flying colours. Out of 175 students 118 students bagged full A+ and in HSE out of 96, 52 students obtained full A+ and 81 students scored above 90%. Carmel is extremely proud of the outstanding achievements and conveys best wishes to all the winners.

Nallapadam :District level First Prize
Carmel Nallapadam Team bagged the Malayala Manorama Nallapadam Project, an initiative to encourage school children to actively participate in the socio-economic upliftment of society, District level first prize for their contributions and service to underprivileged and needy. Carmelites leave no stone unturned when it comes to their social commitment. The students have also sworn their commitment to nature and farming. Principal  Rev. Fr. Jose Thanickal has always encouraged the students to be kind and companionate by implementing service learning programmes. Principal  Rev. Fr. Jose Thanickal ,Nallapadam School Coordinators Mrs. Asha Sreekumar and Mrs. Neethu M.S and Nallapadam volunteers  were also honoured during the programme.


Say No To Drugs Campaign
In order to advocate full support for the ‘War on Drugs’ Carmel HSS has organized variety of programmes aiming to acquaint students on drug abuse and to enable them to spread awareness campaigns against this backdrop in the society. Messages on drug abuse is given by the students during the school assembly.

Signature campaign was organized by the Carmel Nallapadam team under the leadership of Principal Rev. Fr. Jose Thanickal . Students collected the signature of the commuters and the passersby at Chalakudy Bus Station on a fabric banner made by the students. The official programme was inaugurated by Chalakudy Municipality Vice Chairman, Mrs. Alice Shibu. Excise Circle Inspector Mr. Bindu Kumar inaugurated the signature campaign and Principal Rev. Fr. Jose Thanickal addressed the gathering.

‘KuttiChangala’ was also organized in front of the School to protest against drug usage.


A Placard against Drug
Carmel HSS organized an antidrug protest. The programme was inaugurated by Excise Preventive Officer Mr. Chandran C K. Excise officer Mr. Aneesh Kumar delivered the ‘pledge against drugs’to the students. Principal Rev. Fr. Jose Thanickal addressed the gathering. All the students of Carmel prepared a placard with antidrug slogans.

Chalakudy Sub District Level Exhibition and Work Experience
Sub District Level Exhibition and Work Experience were held at Kodakara.
Carmel HSS bagged Social science: L.P first overall, High school first overall and Higher secondary first overall.

It was a proud and joyous moment for Carmel HSS. Carmelites are committed and will continue their endeavours. Principal Rev. Fr. Jose Thanickal congratulated all the participants on their accomplishments in exhibition and work experience.

 

Inter House Athletic Meet
The much awaited Annual School Sports Day was held on 30th September 2022 with great zeal and excitement. The programme commenced with Mr. Sunny Thomas, Superintendent of Customs, being escorted to the Carmel Stadium as the school band played the welcome note. Manager, Rev. Fr. Sebi Palamattath CMI gave the presidential addressed and Principal Rev. Fr. Jose Thanickal CMI welcomed everyone to the programme. The Chief Guest Mr. Sunny Thomas, Superintendent of Customs, International Basketball Player inaugurated the ceremony by hoisting the School Flag which was followed by an oath taking ceremony headed by School Captain Master Christopher Sojan (XII B). The event proceeded further by Inter School House wise March past followed by an energetic Zumba Dance performance by the Students from all the houses. Another highlight of the day was lighting the Torch ceremony by the house captains. Students participated in the sports meet with great vigor and zest.

Carrier Guidance Session
A Carrier Guidance Class was arranged for the XI students on 24th September 2022 at 10 am to 12 pm in the School auditorium by Dr. Sureshkumar  P P, Clinical Psychologist. A session on Post Covid learning was also provided.

Class wise PTA and Orientation programme
Carmel HSS organized an Orientation Programme for the Parents of class 5 to 9 on 20th September 1.30 pm in the School Auditorium. The programme was commenced with Principal Rev. Fr. Jose Thanickal CMI welcoming the Chief Guest, Mr. Sunil D. Kuruvilla and all the parents. Mr. Sunil D. Kuruvilla emphasised on the active involvement of parents in the upbringing of their wards for the holistic development of the child.

Teachers Day
An online Teachers Day celebration was organized on 5th September as a mark of tribute to the contribution made by the teachers. A variety of Programmes were arranged in the online video by the students. An offline celebration was also organised at School quadrangle on 15th September after the Onam vacation. Principal Rev. Fr. Jose Thanickal CMI along with School Manager Rev. Fr. Sebi Palamattath CMI partook in the programme and honoured all the teachers by presenting flowers. Mrs. Neethu was declared as the lucky teacher through a lucky draw and manager father presented a gift to the lucky teacher. During the celebration prizes were distributed to the winners of ‘Letter to Teacher’ contest, a competition held for the students. In connection with Teachers Day celebration Student teachers took class during 2nd and 3rd periods.

‘Onanilav’- Onam celebration
Onam was celebrated on September 2nd 2022 in the School pavilion. Kumari Evlin Wilson, Student representative welcomed everyone to the celebration. Manager, Rev. Fr. Sebi Palamattath CMI gave the presidential address and Principal Rev. Fr. Jose Thanickal CMI inaugurated the festivities. PTWA President Mr. Maneesh Thomas addressed the students.

A host of programmes were arranged in the pavilion. Flower carpets, Skit on Onam, Flash mob, Onam songs and variety of games added hues to the celebrations. Students and teachers arrived by wearing Kerala ethnic wear. The highlight of the day was the Mega Thiruvathira organized by the students from all section. Onam Payasam was also distributed to all the Carmelites. Onam Sadya was arranged for all the Staff members.

In connection with Onam celebration ‘Onam Kit and gifts’ were given to the inmates of ‘Smile Village’ Old age home at Vettikuzhi- Kuttichira by the Carmel Nallapadam team.

Be kind and Generous

With the help of Nallapadam Team Carmelites used their birthday gratuity to help the needy. The Principal Rev. Fr. Jose Thanickal CMI handed over the amount from the birthday contributions to Mr. Shekaran, a dialysis patient and Mr. Subran, driver of Carmel HSS. Through this act of kindness students experienced the happiness of giving to the needy.

School Exhibition- LUMA 2022
School level Science, Social Science and Mathematics Exhibition and Work Experience- ‘LUMA’ was held on 20th August 2022 for UP and HS and HSS Section. The Programme was inaugurated by School Manager Rev. Fr. Sebi Palamattath CMI. Principal Rev. Fr. Jose Thanickal CMI proposed the message of the day. It helped the students to boost their confidence and outshine their personality.

Farmer's day Celebration.
Nallapadam students celebrated Farmer's day on Chingam 1, the first day of the Malayalam calendar. 2021 Vanamithra Award recipient, Sri. K.V. Sreedharan Master was honoured during the programme. During the programme he spoke about the contribution of farmers to the society’ growth and glorified the hard work done by them.Principal Rev. Fr. Jose Thanickal CMI presided over the meeting and Academic Administrator Mr. P.P. Shyju felicitated.

Nallapadam: Plastic Free Zone Project.

Nallapadam members cleaned the Chalakudy Railway station on 15th August as a part of their project ‘Plastic Free Zone Project’. Station master Mr. Krishnakumar inaugurated the programme and Principal Rev. Fr. Jose Thanickal CMI addressed the gathering. The students collected all the plastic items from the station and handed over to the Chalakudy Haritha Sena. This drive was initiated to create awareness of cleanliness among rail users and all others concerned. Nallapadam team also distributed paper bags to the neighboring vendors.

Independence Day

Independence Day was celebrated on 15th August. The Chief Guest Smt. R Lakshmi DFO, Vazhachal, hoisted the National Flag. Principal Rev. Fr. Jose Thanickal CMI along with School Manager Rev. Fr. Sebi Palamattath CMI partook in the programme. ‘Gandhi Tree’ was also planted in the School Campus. Parade was initiated by the Carmel Band team followed by the parade of NCC cadets, NSS Volunteers and Scout and Guides team. Varity of entertainment programmes were also arranged by the students. Sweets were also distributed. The wife of K. Madhavan Nair, the freedom fighter was honoured. Master Indian Rintos Kannampuza was also acknowledged because of his unique name. An orientation class was also organized for the NSS students.NCC, NSS, Scout and Guides solemnized the celebration on Independence Day.

Amritholsav 2022

A 7 days NSS Residential camp was organized for the NSS students at Carmel HSS Chalakudy. Chalakudy MLA Mr. Saneesh Kumar inaugurated the programme. Principal Rev. Fr. Jose Thanickal CMI welcomed the gathering and School Manager Rev. Fr. Sebi Palamattath CMI presided over the meeting. Ward councilor, Mrs. Bindu Sasikumar felicitated the function. Volunteers were divided into several groups and several tasks were assigned to them.

LIKHA- 2022-23 School Kalolsavam

LIKHA- 2022-23 School Kalolsavam was Inaugurated on July 29th and 30th by renowned State Revenue Kalathilakam, Romi Chandramohan. A grand celebration was organized in the School Auditorium. Rev. Fr. Jose Thanickal, Principal welcomed everyone to the celebration and Manager, Rev. Fr. Sebi Palamattath CMI presided over the meeting. Students were very excited and thrilled to attend the competitions after a long gap of 2 years.

PTWA, MPTA and KG PTA Executive Meeting


PTWA, MPTA and KG PTA Executive Meeting was held on 22nd  July. All the executive members attended the meeting. Manager Rev. Fr. Sebi Palamattath CMI gave the Presidential address. All the members introduced themselves. Rev. Fr. Jose Thanickal CMI read the report and the agenda. The main agenda of the meeting was the election of PTWA 2022-23 Office bearers. Following are the new PTWA Executive members . PTWA President -Mr. Maneesh Thomas, PTWA Vice President Mr. K.S. Sugathan,  MPTA President Mrs. Bindhu Dolby, MPTA Vice President Mrs. Shiny Sunil and KG Ambassadors Mrs.Anju Jophin and Mr. Arjun.

Investiture ceremony 2022-23

Investiture ceremony for the academic session 2022-2023 was held with great zeal and enthusiasm. The programme was commenced with The Chief Guest, Smt. Shiny MS, Judicial First Class Magistrate Chalakudy, being escorted to the Carmel Auditorium as the school band played the welcome note. Rev.Fr. Jose Thanickal CMI, Principal of Carmel HSS welcomed everyone to the ceremony and Rev. Fr. Sebi Palamattath CMI, Manager of Carmel HSS presided over the meeting. The Chief Guest, Smt. Shiny MS, Judicial First Class Magistrate Chalakudy, handed over the mantle of responsibility to newly elected Students' Council. She addressed and congratulated the newly elected Students' Council and reminded them that they are the torch bearers of all the ideals that the School stands for and urged them to take responsibility with commitment and integrity and to be impartial and honest. The Principal Rev. Fr. Jose Thanickal CMI administered the oath to the Prefectorial Board headed by the School leader Carolin Gijo of XII B.

Ayur 2022: An Ayurvedic Medicinal Plants Exhibition

Herbal Expo was organized in Carmel Higher Secondary School on July 18 2022. The Expo aimed at creating awareness among the students about the importance and uses of traditional and herbal plants in our day to day life especially during the Malayalam month of ‘Karkidakam’. Principal of Carmel HSS Rev. Fr. Jose Thanickal CMI inaugurated the programme and enlightened the students on the rejuvenating power of herbs not only on the body but the mind and soul particularly during the monsoon season. Different varieties of herbal plants were displayed along with detail description of each herb. ‘Dasapushpam’- the ten sacred flowers of Kerala and ten herbal leaves which is used to prepare ‘Pathila Curry’- the immunity booster used during ‘Karkidakam’ were also displayed. The Expo helped to create awareness among the students on the traditional medical practices.

Carmel Day Celebration

Carmel Day was celebrated on 15th July 2021.The celebration was commenced with a prayer service. Rev. Fr.  Jose Thanickal CMI, Principal of Carmel HSS welcomed everyone to the ceremony and Rev. Fr. Sebi Palamattath, Manager of Carmel HSS presided over the meeting. Our alumni Ms. Shweta K. Sugathan, IPS Probationer graced the special occasion with her presence and inaugurated the celebration. Rev. Fr. Davis Panakkal CMI, Provincial, Devamatha Province, Thrissur gave the benedictory address. Mrs. Sindu Loju gave the message of the day and Smt. Bindu Sasikumar, Ward Councillor and Sri Eby George, Municipal councilor felicitated during the occasion. The alluring performance of the students made the Programme a memorable one. A variety of competitions were also held in connection with the feast of our patroness.

Carmel Pulse

Carmel launched a project ‘Carmel Pulse’ - a welfare programme initiated by Carmel Nallapadam and NSS Carmel Unit. It focuses on providing support to meet the multiple needs of bed ridden patients and their loved ones. As a part of this venture, it is decided to collect the needful things and hand it over to the deserved ones with the association of Alpha Palliative Care, Chalakudy.

School Vijayolsavam 2022

Vijayolsavam was celebrated on 1 of July 2022. Rev. Fr. Francis Kurisseri CMI, Vicar Provincial, Councilor for education and mass media, Devamatha Province, Thrissur was the chief guest. Rev. Fr. Cycle Rally

Carmel HSS Chalakudy, NCC Cadets organised a Cycle Rally in Chalakudy against the increasing incidents of drug addiction. Purpose of the rally was to highlight the ill effect of drug abuse and to warn society against it. Rev Fr. Jose Thanickal CMI , Principal of Carmel HSS flagged off the rally and appreciated the young vibrant students for the effort they took to spread awareness against the drug abuse. 50 NCC Cadets participated in the rally with their cycles which carried placards and raised slogans to aware public over the growing menace of drug addiction.

Reading Week Inauguration

Carmel HSS Chalakudy observed ‘Reading Week’ to inculcate reading habit in students. A week long observation was kicked off with a beautiful inaugural ceremony by Sri Sukesh Velani, the famous folk singer. Rev. Fr. Jose Thanickal CMI presided over the official ceremony. Mr. Shyju PP, School Academic Administrator felicitated on the occasion. Students organized ‘AksharaMaram’ wherein the students of all the section decorated trees with paper leaves embellished with famous quotes, reviews, pictures of famous writers, alphabet of different languages, etc. An electrifying musical performance was also arranged for the students by the folk singers. The students had a whale of a time during the celebration. A variety of activities and competitions were also arranged for students throughout the week.

World Environment Day Celebration: ‘Jackfruit Orchard’ In Carmel

Carmel Higher secondary School celebrated World Environment Day with great fanfare. The programme was inaugurated by Sri Ayyappa Ayya, Kadukutty Panchayath President and Rev. Fr. Jose Thanickal CMI, Principal of Carmel HSS presided over the meeting.   The programme was flagged off with a Group Canvas painting by the Carmelites depicting a beautiful scenery in art. Capturing the vibrant nature on canvas was an enjoyable experience for the students. Students also made a formation of a tree during the programme to create awareness to save trees.

Acknowledging the health benefits of jackfruit along with its organic and nutritious qualities, Carmelites took the initiative to be a part of Jackfruit plantation drive by planting around 25 unfamiliar variant Jackfruit samplings in the School campus. With the introduction of Jackfruit orchard students of Carmel have taken inventive to recreate the rustic terrains of rural life in their school campus. Their sense of ownership and responsibility towards nature has certainly made a difference to the way they view the environment.

Pravesanolsavam

Pravesanolsavam was held on the 1st of June, marking the beginning of the new academic year, after the two years of covid induced lockdown. The day was filled with fun and excitement. The programme started with a prayer service. UP coordinator  Mrs. Resmy Rappai welcomed everyone to the programme. Manager Rev. Fr. Sebi Palamattath CMI presided over the meeting and Principal Rev. Fr. Jose Thanickal CMI addressed the students. History of Carmel and school motto was also presented during the programme.
