The 45th Annual Day Celebrations of Carmel HSS was held on 3rd January 2020.  Smt. Jayanthi Praveenkumar, Chairperson, Chalakudy Municipality inaugurated and Rev. Fr. Jose Stephen Menachery CMI, Manager presided over the programme.  Ms. Shweta K. Sugathan, IPS Probationer & Alumna, was  the Guest of Honour, Rev. Fr. Jose Kidangan CMI, Principal welcomed the gathering.  Rev. Fr. Jose Thanickal, Principal, Good Shephered School, Kunnamkulam honoured Mrs. Kumari P.K., our Administrator who is leaving this year.  Rev. Fr. Joseph Alappat, HSS Co-ordinator and Mrs. Gracy P.L., Staff Secretary honoured the retiring staff Mr. Unnikrishnan M.R., Mr. Baiju P.C., Mr. Jose V.P., and  Mr. Suresh P.P. Smt. Bindu Sasikumar, ward councilor, and Mr. Maneesh Thomas, President PTWA, felicitated on the occasion. Kum.Lakshmi V.B., School Leader proposed the vote of thanks.  Awards and prizes were distributed.  Agape 2020, a fund raising programme was launched and its Brochure was released.  This was followed by the thematic presentation ‘Amigos’ which reminded the audience the need and importance of friendship in the journey of life. 

L.P. & K.G. Annual Day Celebrations:

The L.P. & K.G. Annual Day Celebrations were held on 10th January 2020.  Thematic presentation ‘Ad-Naturam’ put up by the LP students was a pointer to preserving nature for the existence of human beings.KG students presented the theme unity in diversity. All the students of KG Section participated in the thematic presentation. Well done children!


Christmas Celebration was memorable occasion for Carmelites.  Preparations started early in the month.  X’mas friends were elected and students were instructed to p ray for the friend.  Students participated in the star making competition and X’mas card making competitions held in connection with the same.  A beautiful skit on the variety, carols and the Angels & Santa dance brought in the real spirit of Christmas.

Kalolsavam State Level 31 students participated in the state level.Kalolsavam held at Kasargode. Congratulations students!!

Kerala Piravi was celebrated with cultural programmes highlighting the rich cultural heritage of Kerala.  A few competitions were conducted in connection with the same.

Carmelites commemorated former Headmaster Rev. Fr. Jose Sales on his 10th death anniversary (2 November 2019) staff and students attended the office prayers held at his tomb.

Carmelites celebrated the day with great joy and enthusiasm.  They expressed their love and gratitude to Fr. Jose Kidangan through Cards and Bouquets and also felicitated during the common gathering held in connection with the same. The colourful cultural programme that followed added to the gaiety of the occasion.

Childrens’ Day celebrations were a thrilling programme.  Students were greeted.  The variety programmes that followed was very colourful

The Arts and Literary competitions arranged as part of Chavarolsavam 2019, under the auspices of Associates of Carmel was a grand success.  The competitions were inaugurated by Rev. Fr. Joy Vattoly CMI, Councillor of Social Apostolate, Devamatha Province.  Rev. Fr. Jose Kidangan CMI, Principal, Carmel H.S.S. presided over the meeting.  Adv. P.I. Mathew, President, Associates of Carmel welcomed the gathering.  Rev. Fr. Yesudas Chungath CMI, Principal, Carmel Academy delivered the benedictory address.  Sri. Antony Pullan Treasurer, felicitated on the occasion.  Mrs. Rani Jose, Secretary, proposed the vote of thanks.  Kum. Jisna George, was the special guest of the day.  She was honoured for her speech conducted by the Chalakudy Municipality for the Umbrella March.The competitions included extempore speech, colouring , group song, light music, mono act etc. for U.P. & H.S. students.  About 400 students from 26 Aided and Govt. Schools of Chalakudy sub district participated.  Scholarships were distributed to 202 students.Prizes were distributed to the winners of the  various competitions.  LFCHS, Koratty bagged the Ever Rolling Trophy in both U.P. and H.S. sections.


Sports Meet:

L.P. Sports Meet was inaugurated by Rev. Fr. Jose Kidangan CMI, Principal.  The L.P. Students put up a grand aerobic performance as part of the opening ceremony. 

Veneration to Mother Mary, Our Patroness:

Class wise Rosary recitals were conducted all through the month of October, seeking special protection and care of our Heavenly Patroness. 

Sarangi – 2019 KG Arts Fest:

KG Arts Fest – ‘Sarangi – 2019’ provided a perfect platform for the tiny tots to express their innate talents.  They participated actively in the Action Song, Solo dance, Storytelling, elocution, fancy dress, drawing and colouring and memory test competitions. 

Nalla Padam: Be a part to save Nature:  A rally was organized by the Nalla Padam friends to give awareness to protect nature, focusing on the prevalent changes in climate.  A workshop was conducted to give training to students in making paper pens and paper bag. 


Science, Social Science, Maths Exhibition, Work Experience and IT Mela:

A good number of students participated in the science, social science Maths Exhibition, Work Experience and IT Mela in the sub district level and came out successfully with A grades.  The school received over all positions in the following categories:

Manager’s Day Celebrations:

Carmelites celebrated the day with great joy and enthusiasm students greeted Fr. Jose Stephen Menachery with cards and bouquets.  A common gathering was held in connection with the same.  The colourful cultural programme that followed added to the gaiety of the occasion.    


Onaghosham 2019:

Onappattu competition and Pookkalam competition was conducted as a part of Onam celebrations.  Fun games like tug of war, breaking the pot etc. added to the joy and happiness of the day payasam was distributed to all the students.  Apart from the traditional onam varavelppu, floral carpet and traditional dress competitions were conducted to make it a memorable occasion for the KG and LP kids. 

Teacher’s Day Celebration:

Teachers Day celebrations was clubbed with Onam celebrations this year.   Teachers who completed 25 years of service were specially honoured students greeted teachers with rose flowers and specially made greeting cards.  Games arranged for teachers made the day special and exciting. 

Chakhravyuh 2k19: (Challenge) Complete Conquer: 

School Kalolsavam ‘Chakhravyuh 2k19’ was officially inaugurated by our Principal, Rev. Fr. Jose Kidangan, CMI.  The logo release was quite spectacles students participated in variety  items with true competitive spirit and enthusiasm. 

Spiritual Rejuvenation:

A three days retreat was conducted to for the Christian students of HS and HSS.  Motivational class was given to the rest of the students. 

Study Tour:

Students of STD IX set out on a one we tour to Hyderabad this month.



The 44th Inter House Athletic Meet was held on 2 August 2019.   Wg.Cdr. N.S. Pawar, Commanding Officer, 3(K)Air Sqn. NCC Kochi,  hoisted the flag and declared the Meet open.  Rev. Fr Jose Kidangan CMI, Principal, welcomed the gathering. Rev. Fr. Jose Stephen Menachery CMI, Manager,  handed  over the torch to the school captain Mast. Manu Thomas.  HSE Co-ordinator Rev. Fr. Joseph Alappat CMI, felicitated on the occasion.  March past put up by the four houses accompanied by the  band troupe, made the inaugural ceremony colourful. 


With the motive of building up confidence in students and to encourage literary activities, a new venture ‘Radio Carmel’ has been initiated in the L.P. Section Principal, Rev. Fr. Jose Kidangan CMI inaugurated the same.  The station is open on all Fridays  between 12.55 p.m. to 1.20 p.m.  It is informative, fun and entertainment to the young ones. 


Collection of toiletries and stationeries for the people in the flood affected areas -  Staff and all the students from KG to Plus Two generously contributed.  The items were handed over to the Asst. Educational Officer Chalakudy.  

JULY 2019

HILFREICH (School Science Exhibition and work Experience):

School science exhibition and work experience was conducted on 12 July 2019.  It was inaugurated by Prof. Daison, Department of  Physics St.Thomas College, Thrissur. The theme presentation put up by the students was innovative & inspiring.  “Elephant paste” prepared by the students and electric train  running over a waterfall, were the attractions of the inaugural  programme.  Principal, Rev. Fr. Jose Kidangan CMI, in his speech exhorted the students to do their best and prove themselves. 

Carmel Day Celebrations:

Our patroness’ Day was celebrated on Tuesday, 16 July 2019.  The programme began with a prayer service followed by a common gathering Rev. Fr. Jose Thekkekara, Vicar, Vendore Parish inaugurated the programme and was presided over by Manager Rev. Fr. Jose Stephen Menachery CMI, Principal, Rev. Fr. Jose Kidangan CMI, delivered the message of the day. Kum. Lakshmi V.B., School Prefect welcomed the gathering Kum. Dona Maria, School Secretary, proposed the vote of thanks. “Salvos” – The Annual School Magazine  was released.  Prizes for the winners of the different competitions (speech- HS, Song – U.P.Notice Board – HS, Collage – HSS on theme ‘Mother Mary – Our Mother) conducted in connection with Carmel Day were given away during the programe .  The colourful dance and melodious songs added to the gaiety of the occasion. “VAYANAKALARI ”Malayala Manorama daily was sponsored by Kanichai Family Trust. AKSHARAYATHRA Under the auspices of the state Balasahithya Institute and state govt.  Cultural department, a book fair Akshara Yathra was conducted on 18 July 2019.  The fair was inaugurated by  Sri.Panampilly Vasudevan , poet & Lyricist;  Principal, Rev. Fr. Jose Kidangan CMI, welcomed the gathering.  Manager, Rev. Fr. Jose Stephen Menachery CMI , was honoured on the occasion.  It was a two days book fair. 


An awareness class on the epidemic, Chicken pox and its symptoms was held on 18 July 2019 by Homoepathy doctors, Dr. Satheesan, Chief Medical Officer, Kodakara,  Dr. Unnikrishnan, member of state committee IHK and Dr. Balasubramonian, President of IHK.  There was an interactive session in which students cleared their doubts. 


Five fans and ten tube lights were donated to Anugraha Sadan, Koodapuzha.  As part of campus beautification, the Nallapadam friends set up a garden with variety flowering plants.

JUNE 2019


The school reopened on 6th June 2019.  After the promotion procedure, staff and students gathered in the school auditorium to invoke God’s blessings for a perfect beginning.  The prayer service was led by our Manager Rev. Fr. Jose Stephen Menachery and Principal Rev. Fr. Jose Kidangan CMI.  After the prayer service there was a common gathering presided over by Manager Rev. Fr. Jose Stephen Menachery.  (Rev. Fr. Joseph Alappat CMI., Rtd. Principal, St. Joseph’s H.S.S., Pavaratty who has joined Carmel this year as the HSE           co-ordinator was introduced and given a cordial welcome).  The new teacher and students were also given a warm welcome.  The students took oath to abide by the rules and regulations of the school and to perform to the best of their abilities.  Principal in his message exhorted the students to dream higher and set a goal in life.  Sri. Subash Chandra Dass, PTWA President felicitated. Plus one students were accorded a warm welcome on the same day.  Principal rev. Fr. Jose Kidangan CMI address the students and their parents. Rev. Fr. Joseph alappat cordially welcome. The senior batch made the programme colourful with variety entertainments which put the new comers at ease & feel at home.  Mr. Sony C. Francis, Expert in entrance coaching gave an orientation talk during the programme. 


The day was observed with due importance in the L.P., U.P. & H.S. sections.  Students took pledge to protect nature.  A short message was delivered by Principal, Rev. Fr. Jose Kidangan CMI, Saplings were distributed. 


The school toppers (HSE) Aleena Anabelly (computer Science) Joyal Jose and Franko Francis (Biology),  full mark scorers of plus one, Rufino Tony (Biology), Cathrene Biju & Dilith Dinesh (computer science).  full A+ winners in the SSLC (103) and HSE Examination (20) were honoured.  Sri. B.D. Devassy, MLA inaugurated the programme.  The meeting was presided over by Rev. Fr. Jose Stephen Menachery CMI, Manager.  Rev. Fr. Walter Thelapilly CMI, Provincial, Devamatha Province, delivered the benedictory address and Smt. Jayanthi Praveenkumar the keynote address.  Sri. B.D. Devassy MLA honoured the HSE students and Smt. Jayanthi honoured the SSLC students.  On this occasion the USS & LSS scholarship winners were honoured by Mrs. Alice Shibu, Education Standing Committee chairperson, Ms. Shweta k. Sumatran 34th rank Holder IFS (Kerala Topper) and alumnus of Carmel Hussars honored during the programmed. 


Investiture Ceremony was a very solemn affair.  The school office bearers were formally invested with badges signifying responsibility Mr.  Joseph, S.I. of Police Chalked, was the Chief Guest.  Rev. Fr. Jose Kisangani CMI, Principal welcomed the gathering. 


The first PTWA general body of this academic year was held this month.  Parent representatives were elected to the Executive Committee.  Talk by Mr. Harish, HRD trainer & Mind Power Trainer was an eye opener to all who attended. 


Nalla Padam is “Reading to Grow” with more enthusiasm this year our Nula Pad am friends began their activities.  To encourage reading habits in students. Malayalam Manorama Daily was subscribed for one year to the students of     V- B, U.P. school, Poolani.

Sparkling Victory (SSLC Result)

The school has maintained its proud position with the students winning 100% pass with 103 full A+ in the SSLC Examination, March 2019.

The Plus Two batch has secured 100% pass with 20 Full A+ in the public examinations held in March 2019.  Out of the 100 students who appeared, 92 students secured 80% above marks.

Souhrudam 2019

The 3 days’ Summer Vacation camp held from 10th to 12th April under the auspices of the Associates of Carmel was a grand success. The programme was inaugurated by Rev. Fr. Wilson Tharayil CMI, Provincial, Devamatha Province and presided over by Rev. Fr. Jose Stephen Menachery CMI, Manager, Carmel School. Rev. Fr. Jose Kidangan CMI, Principal, Carmel HSS delivered the Benedictory Address. Rev. Fr. Yesudas Chungath CMI, Principal, Carmel Academy delivered the message of the day. Sri. T.V. Anupama, District Collector, Thrissur who was here in connection with the election procedure addressed the students. About 200 students from 25 schools selected for the Merit Scholarship given by the ACMI attended the camp. The teacher co-ordinators for these 25 schools were honoured during the programme. An orientation programme was arranged for the parents of these students. Rev. Fr. Wilson Tharayil CMI led the class on parenting. Bro. Jiffin Neelankavil CMI, Bro. Majo Chakkuparambil CMI, Bro. Edwin CMI led the camp.
